DSN Academy for Women – Creative Writing: Short Story Workshop

A four week session where students will strategize and write a short memoir or piece of fiction.

We will be working on various drills and collaborative sessions in class to take your written work from concept to completion.

Students will be required to work on writing assignments both in and out of class in order to reach this goal.

Course is open to previous creative writing students and those who are ready to jump into an intermediate level setting.

In celebration of Israel’s 70th anniversary we will explore the history of Zionism from its earliest moments in the 19th century through the establishment of the state in 1948.

We will examine Zionist voices both in Europe and in the Middle Eastern Jewish communities.

An especially exciting focus will be on some of the unsung heroines of the early years of Zionism and their vital contributions to the development of Israel today.

Acquire skills to design flowers for personal use

Students will grasp concepts of design themes, color ways and the various types of flowers per season.

Each week will focus on different design styles and techniques like: English/Garden, Architectural, Linear.. using vases, containers with oasis (floral foam) and chicken wire.

Course will be hands-on. You will take home an arrangement at the end of each session for your Shabbat and Shavuot tables.
